The American Lung Association and ProTeam, manufacturer of state-of-the-art high-efficiency vacuum cleaners, have created a partnership focused on educating the public about improving their indoor air quality.
"Recent surveys indicate that Americans are not well aware of the dangers of poor indoor air quality, but it can have a major impact on individuals' breathing?particularly for people with chronic lung diseases such as asthma," said John L.
Kirkwood, President & CEO of the American Lung Association. Poor indoor air quality can cause short-term problems such as coughing, headaches and dizziness, and can contribute to and worsen chronic breathing problems.????
Dust mites can be a contributing factor to allergies and asthma in environments as varied as homes, hotels and healthcare facilities. Dust mites look like microscopic versions of ticks and spiders. They grow best where it is warm and humid and live on a diet of human skin particles found throughout homes?particularly in bedrooms.
To control dust mites, the American Lung Association suggests the following:
? Cover mattresses and pillows with airtight plastic or vinyl covers. ? Wash bedding in hot water (at least 130 degrees F). ? Remove stuffed animals from the bedroom. ? Remove upholstered furniture and fabric-covered items from the bedroom, use washable curtains and area rugs. ? Do not allow furry/feathered pets into the bedroom.
? Remove carpets, especially in the bedrooms and basement. ? Wet-mop floors. ? Vacuum regularly, using special allergen-controlling bags or machines. ? Clear any clutter that is likely to collect dust. ? Improve ventilation.
? Stop using humidifiers. ? Dehumidify and keep the humidity level below 60%. ? Place filters over heating vents. ? Use high efficiency air filters on heating ducts. ? Use air cleaners.

Carpet Cleaning Machines
There is a wide variety of carpet cleaning machines to choose from. The most commonly used is a vacuum cleaner. Most people prefer an 'upright' vacuum cleaner over a 'canister' for convenience. Some people also like to use a 'hand-held' for stairs and other carpeted areas that don't offer maneuverability.
An 'upright' vacuum cleaner can be used with one or two motors, depending on the type of dirt that accumulates and the type and frequency of cleaning required. Some people also like to use 'spotters' for spot cleaning.
These usually have rotating brushes to scrub the stain off the carpet. In order to select the right carpet cleaning machine, we also need to be sensitive to the fabric that the carpet is made up of.
Another type of carpet cleaning machine is called the 'carpet cleaning extractor'. The extractor is ideal for deep cleaning. Use a regular 'carpet cleaning extractor' or a 'self-contained' one.
A 'carpet cleaning extractor' is suitable...

The Benefits of Bagless Vacuum Cleaners
What was unthinkable many years ago had suddenly become all the rage in the world of vacuum cleaners. The bag-less vacuum cleaner, once thought of as an impossible dream, has now become a profitable reality.
Although still in its infancy, the bag-less vacuum cleaner is gaining in acceptance around the world.
The current style uses an internal system called Filtered Cyclonic, a descriptive phrase that describes the means of separating the dirt and dust from the incoming air stream. The filtered cyclonic invention uses a directional air pattern to spin the vacuumed dirt inside a cylinder, forcing the heavier and larger particles against the wall of the cylinder where they drop to the bottom of the collection bin.
The faster and faster the dirty air spins, the better the separation with only the smaller, lighter particles remaining in the middle. These leftover particles are then sent through the device by the outgoing air stream, through a filter designed...

Time travel: sci-fi?
When you look at the clear night sky, you see stars-those tiny diamonds suspended in the vast pitch-black emptiness. But stars shine because?? Our own sun, which is a star, emits light. Stars are like giant bulbs but are much more powerful.Light travels at a speed of 3.0*108m/s in vacuum and space is mostly vacuum. In other words light can cover a mighty distance of 300 000 000m in only 1 second! The thing is that 300 000 000m is a just one of those small amounts in space. Other stars are billions of kilometres-let alone metres-away.
Astronomers in fact use light year as the unit for distance. One light year is the distance travelled by light (in vacuum) during one year. Therefore one light year equals (300 000 000*3600*24*365)m.A single light year is definitely huge: 9.46 trillion kilometres-no need to put this in digit form-in fact. But where exactly do I want to converge? A star that you see in the night sky is not one but many light years away. This means that it is very far...
